Crafting, grafting and calls.

This week has included a call to my accountant in prep for the yearbooks, and prepping myself for all that includes - I am pretty clueless about how it all works (hence why I have an accountant). Still, his calmness, fun-ness and, ultimately his enjoyment of being an accountant is my favourite thing about him!

Totally not related at all, but I’m looking into upgrading my office too, of course, I have been too scared to do this because of the threat of imposter syndrome (I’ll never work again etc). Still, my comfort level in a place where I tend to spend 8 hours a day in is rating at a level 5 out of 10. Even my wife is empowering me to start to add some creature comforts, things like a nicer work-pad (the thing that is a little bit like a huge mouse pad), or speakers etc - we are running basic on this end!
If you have any recommendations on ANYTHING to make my life more comfortable in the area of an office, please let me know.

Work-check: I know this is a common theme, but working in sprints is proving to be really tricky at the moment, showing the value of my team’s work in a delivery-centred environment is always a challenge and, it feels like a rush in 2 weeks to ensure I have delivered a thing, again - I totally understand this, and to a point - completely agree with this approach, but this can lead, in fact, it will lead to design-debt.
Aside from that, with my contract ending in December - it’s coming to the point of planning to hand over Figma, planning documentation and handover, unlike previous projects, the end of this one feels early - I was starting to have fun and really go for it, but this is the game of contracting, ensuring you leave the project in a better place than it was found and set it free.

What am I looking forward to: Enjoying a new sprint of new challenges, we are working our way through a lot of tickets, and it feels like great strides forward.

Cooking a “staff” curry using Al’s kitchen on youtube - worth a go and a watch, i’ve made many curries of his and swear by his staff curries.

Watch of the week
Watching endless docu’s on World War 2, there is a real influx of great, bad and terrible choices on Netflix, but there is also a gem hidden away on BBC iPlayer, called Our World War, whilst its World War 1, it’s certainly worth a watch.
