I finally have started to write weeknotes properly, trying to keep a consistent rhythm, I write these for myself to look back at, but I’ve skipped so many good weeks, and more importantly for me and my learning curve - I’ve also missed the tough weeks, where things haven’t gone right, people have pissed me off or just the level of anxiety is raging.

So roll on the notes.

What did I enjoy?
My good pal Calei released her first weeknotes, it’s been a heck of a career to watch from the side, cheering her on (not that she needed it) and watching her go from powerhouse to absolute-fucking-wrecking-ball and I love it. Give it a read, connect with her, learn from her and be her best mate - cos she’ll teach you a thing or two about tough projects and delivering in hell (I know this first hand being the designer on a highly.. hot project).

It’s Monday, it’s been ok for a Monday. The work has started to get into a great pace (a 2-week crunch so happy for the breather), we are on the cusp of launching a feature which was heavily requested - it’s been delivered at pace and we know it’ll need refining, but the fact we DELIVERED AT PACE is amazing and we really should be looking back at this and seeing positives on how we worked together, OR how we pulled together when things started to go a little south, people got antsy, people got moody but with a lot of control we got back on the right path and the design was delivered timely, signed off by stakeholders and given a path to scale.

Midweek update, I had a wonderful chat with my LM Haydyn (he’s a great guy who has proper leadership skills and someone I’m sponging knowledge and work-moves from) about the future of the work I’m doing, the support I have received and trust has been next level and allowing me to stretch my wings and get knee-deep in the project and own the UX area (we are starting to shape the future and vision of the piece, and leaning on user-findings etc), whilst I am trying to drive away from snappy decisions and design by taste, and be more data-led.
AND finally but maybe more importantly - we tried out the new(ish) Hickory’s Smokehouse - amazingly we had to go to Huddersfield instead of the Adel one due to the stupid traffic (I know nothing about locations but this feels weird), it was good, not amazing - felt more of a better themed TGI’s, which, for a review will be frowned upon, but let’s not put a wig and moustache on it!

Damnnnn it’s Friday, that came at us fast! Let’s announce again - the sun has landed, following a bad-ass amount of rain - Leeds/Bradford has found the sun.
OHHH and some ace and exciting news.. I got extended to the end of December so I can REALLY get involved and plan longterm (design-delivery-map tips welcome!).

Watch of the week
People - this is not a false alarm, Alien: Romulus is almost among us and I couldn’t be more excited, fearful and excited again. The trailer looks the usual stuff, but the sounds.. crikey the sounds are there and I bloody love it.

Listen of the week
Those of my regular readers of weeknotes, will know I love me some Electric Callboy, and they can do no wrong, and here is a great example of them hitting the hot-notes again Ratatata (yep.. of course that’s the song title).
